Our mission
To provide a barrier free student centered and supportive learning environment for youth with learning variability
Our Vision
All students will achieve their highest learning potential and be empowered to thrive in all aspects of life
Lighthouse was founded on these core mission and vision statements by parents to a child with learning variability.
After years of touring and applying to local academic programs, these parents left each one feeling so defeated. It seemed each place came with some type of unbreakable barrier for a child who simply learned differently. With the help of behavior analysts, community professionals, and specialized therapists, Lighthouse School will break these barriers that are so often presented to children with learning variability. Lighthouse School’s board of directors have set the foundation to serve all learners throughout their educational journey. Lighthouse School has created a safe, inclusive space for our community’s children and their families.
We are a beacon of hope for children who may learn differently or for a family that may feel lost in the education journey.
Our Learning Environment
Lighthouse School fosters an environment of learning and hope to our learners, especially those who have not found success in a traditional school setting. Learners will be met with compassion and patience. It is our goal for each learner to have individualized academic plans to fit their specific needs. We will do this by providing an assessment upon enrollment by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and Special Education Teacher who will set goals for each child.
Lighthouse is barrier free, meaning any learner can be on anywhere on the academic spectrum and still have a home here. Our BCBA’s will follow your child’s goals throughout their time at Lighthouse and adjust them as needed. We fully understand that learning variability can come with other barriers, therapies etc. in life, so we strive to keep school simple. As a Lighthouse family, communication plays a big role into your learner’s success, we partner with families to ensure goals are met and their academic plan is constantly evolving.
